Well, Scott and Alexandra Eidens have come to the rescue! They are expecting a sweet baby soon, and as they were pondering what principles and tools they wanted to teach their child, they distilled down lessons from some of the world's best books and most successful people.
And then they made it easy to understand for kids.
How cool is this! They made a Big LIfe Journal for kids between 6-12 years old that helps them live a "big life" by:
Scott and Alexandra were kind enough to send me a free copy of their Big Life Journal so I could see if I liked it. I told them quite frankly that I never review and recommend things unless I love them. Period. So they were forewarned! :)
But I started working on it with my son, and now the rest is history, and I'm sharing it with you! What I liked about it, is that kids can go through it themselves if they want to (and still get a lot of good out of it), but I think a lot of the power of this idea lies with the "Journal Buddy".
A Journal Buddy can be any adult, but will probably be Mom or Dad. In each lesson of the journal, the Journal Buddy shares experiences from their life, lessons learned and mistakes made. (There are questions prompts, so you don't have to come up with these on your own.) It's a great bonding tool, as well as a teaching tool. Kids are learning these great principles from a loved one, and THAT reinforces lessons even more. But here's the kicker- it is so easy for you! No prep, no research, nothing. Just open up the journal.
You can find Scott and Alexandra here. The journal isn't quite for sale yet- they are gearing up for a Kickstarter campaign soon-but I hope you'll check them out and support them!
