This year I really don't feel like buying anything for Christmas.
Like, at all.
Usually I really enjoy the secrets, shopping and wrapping...but I'm just not feeling it this year.
My friend Ralphie from @simplyonpurpose often talks about giving gifts of togetherness for Christmas and I love the idea. If relationships are the most important things in life (and they are), then the gift of time together is the best gift we can give our children.
But consumerism is all around us, and it seems to be the true meaning of Christmas these days. As I write this, I am staying in a city that is known for it's consumerism and exploitation of people, on a business trip with my husband . Everyone around me is trying to get me to buy something or use someone.
And it's starting to tick me off.
That is why I wanted to share the Christ-Centered Christmas Countdown from the Dating Divas with you. If you are feeling the way I am, this is a great tradition to start implementing in your family. The concept is simple: every day, do something together that celebrates Jesus Christ.
To be sure, you don't need to buy a kit to do this. You can easily create your own countdown. And if you are the crafty, fun mom, you might really enjoy creating your own. But...I'm NOT the crafty, fun mom.
The beauty of this particular countdown, is that it is already done for me. I just print, cut out and organize. It takes maybe an hour to put together, and you are prepared for the entire month with activities, games, stories, scriptures, ect.- all with super cute printables.
Here is a little of what is included:
This year, I will be giving my kids the gift of togetherness with this Christ-Centered Christmas Countdown. They'll probably get some other gifts, too, but I'm grateful that this gift will be such a no-fuss, meaningful gift that I can print at home. Hi, I'm Jen! I adore chocolate, I'd rather read than clean my house, and I haven't seen my abs in I-don't-know-how-long. But I love my husband and kids to death and try to Raise The Good within myself and my family by making wise and uplifting media choices and having a deliberate family culture. You are probably doing the same thing. Let's share what works with each other!
