When we share real heroes with our children, we teach them what they can be capable of. We teach them to recognize courage, discipline, sacrifice and love. We teach them how important these values are and what a lasting contribution they make to the world.
These men and women, through they don't live next door, can have a profound influence on our children and become beloved mentors through the medium of books and movies.
These movies are not squeaky clean because of the nature of the struggle most of these people went through. Life is not clean, especially if you are righting wrongs and fighting against evil. But I think our kids need to be exposed to these things in an age appropriate way. Most of these movies are for teenagers and older. (If you are concerned about movie content, I really appreciate kids-in-mind.com for their movies guides. They tell you everything that could be objectionable that's in a movie and then you can decide if it is right for your family. It's really fantastic.)

Hi, I'm Jen! I adore chocolate, I'd rather read than clean my house, and I haven't seen my abs in I-don't-know-how-long. But I love my husband and kids to death and try to Raise The Good within myself and my family by making wise and uplifting media choices and having a deliberate family culture. You are probably doing the same thing. Let's share what works with each other!
